Kashyam Maranam Mukti it is widely believed that among the many revered pilgrimage centers in India, only Kashi, also known as Varanasi, has the divine right to grant Moksha (salvation). This belief stems from the legend that Lord Shiva himself recites the Taraka Mantra into the ears of the departed souls. As a result, many devout Hindus aspire to spend their final moments in Kashi, seeking liberation from the cycle of rebirth. This sacred tradition has led to the establishment of numerous cremation Ghats, such as Manikarnika Ghat and Harishchandra Ghat, where the dead are ceremoniously laid to rest.
In keeping with these ancient and revered beliefs, Vaidyanath Bhavan, now known as Mumukshu Bhavan, has been constructed just 100 meters from Manikarnika Ghat, within the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. This three-storey building, with around 40 beds, a dining hall, and an activity room, serves as a sanctuary for elderly individuals who wish to spend their final days in Kashi, close to the sacred Ganga. Here, they can find peace and comfort as they prepare for their journey to the afterlife. Additionally, the facility allows for short-term stays of up to 15 days for those who wish to experience the spiritual ambiance of Varanasi.
The esteemed Tara Sansthan, with its extensive experience in managing old age homes, has been entrusted with the management of Mumukshu Bhavan. Demonstrating a profound commitment to service, the Sansthan has decided to offer this facility completely free of charge to its residents. To sustain this noble endeavor, a donor program has been established, inviting contributions from compassionate individuals and organizations.
Mumukshu Bhavan stands as a testament to the enduring spiritual heritage of Varanasi, providing a place of solace and spiritual fulfillment for those in the twilight of their lives. It offers a unique opportunity for donors to contribute to a cause that not only upholds an age-old tradition but also ensures dignity and care for the elderly. By supporting Mumukshu Bhavan, donors help preserve the sanctity and compassion that define the spirit of Kashi, making a profound impact on the lives of those who seek their final moments in this holy city.
